The Hitachi R-BGX411PRU0-1 (XGR) is a freestanding two-door fridge freezer with a black to grey gradient glass front. At 59.5 cm wide, it fits in the space of a standard fridge. Standing 190 cm tall, it offers 330 litres net: 215 litres fridge and 115 litres freezer.
The fridge sits at the top at eye level, with the freezer and its drawers below. Thanks to Full No Frost you never need to defrost, and with energy class E and 40 dB(A) it is economical and quiet.

Layout: fridge on top, freezer below
The fridge is at the top, so everything you use daily is at eye level. At the bottom of the fridge is the vegetable zone. Below that, behind its own door, is the freezer.
Two fans, one for the fridge and one for the freezer, distribute the cold air separately in each section. The inverter compressor adjusts its output to what is needed.
The fridge: bottles, dishes and fresh food
The fridge keeps a temperature between 2 and 5 °C. Behind the door you will find tempered glass shelves, LED lighting and adjustable door pockets with an egg tray.
- Bottle shelf: for wine and other bottles, including 1.5-litre bottles
- Pull-out shelf: handy for dishes with leftovers or a dessert
- Adjustable drawer: you choose the vegetable setting (3 to 7 °C) or dairy and meat (1 to 3 °C)
- Vegetable drawer: a separate drawer for fruit and vegetables
Only close the fridge door once the adjustable drawer is pushed all the way in, otherwise the drawer may be damaged.
The freezer: fast freezing and easy access
The freezer keeps -18 to -20 °C, has 4 stars and freezes 5.5 kg per 24 hours. At the top is the Easy Access drawer, which is open at the top so you can grab things quickly. The hybrid freezing drawer has an aluminium tray on which you can freeze meat and fish quickly.
Below are spacious drawers for frozen food and ice cream. You make ice cubes with the supplied ice cube trays, which you empty into the Ice Bank after freezing. If you have a lot to freeze, switch on Quick Freezing.
Controls and convenience
You set the fridge and freezer temperatures separately on the touchscreen in the door. With the Mode button you choose the energy saving mode or Quick Freezing.
- Child lock: locks the buttons so nobody changes a setting by accident
- Door alarm: if the fridge door is open for more than a minute, you hear a beep
Which version should you choose?
Both versions of the R-BGX411PRU0-1 have the same layout, capacity and energy class. You only choose the colour of the glass:
- R-BGX411PRU0-1 (GBK): black glass
- R-BGX411PRU0-1 (XGR): glass with a black to grey gradient
You are looking at the R-BGX411PRU0-1 (XGR) in glass with a black to grey gradient. Need more space or an ice maker? The Hitachi R-WB640PRU1-1 is a 90 cm wide American-style fridge freezer with 569 litres and an ice maker that needs no water connection. If you also want a vacuum compartment, choose the R-WB640VRU0-1.
Installation and dimensions
The R-BGX411PRU0-1 (XGR) is a freestanding fridge freezer. According to the dimension drawing, leave 5 cm free above and behind the appliance and 1 cm on both sides, so the heat can escape. With the door open, you need about 125.3 cm of depth from the wall, and on the hinge side the open door sticks out about 43 cm beyond the fridge.
Climate class ST means the fridge works properly in a room between +16 °C and +38 °C. An unheated garage or shed is therefore less suitable. If you want to reverse the doors, Hitachi says this must be done by an authorised service engineer, at your own cost.

Economical, quiet and clean
The R-BGX411PRU0-1 (XGR) has energy class E and uses 250 kWh per year. At an electricity price of 30 cents per kWh, that is about €75 per year. An Eco sensor adjusts the cooling, and in energy saving mode it uses even less.
At 40 dB(A), it is in noise class C. Full No Frost prevents ice build-up, so defrosting is never needed. The Nano Titanium filter helps to keep odours in the fridge at bay. It uses R600a as refrigerant, free of CFCs and HFCs.
